Isole Eolie - Stromboli

Stromboli is the only one of the Aeolian islands with a currently active volcano. All tourist guides kept saying it is not risk free to visit the island as it can have a big explosion any second. Just before out boat arrived it had a small explosion and we could see smoke sipping out of the vulcano. It was a strange feeling passing just underneath it but so cool.

Stromboli has black sand beaches in rocky coves and a picturesque center with nice small streets. And like the other islands it got a fascinating nature.

They say Stromboli is a must see during the night with an amazing sunset and most of all you can see eruptions but unfortunately we didn't make it to do another boat trip to Stromboli in the night.

We had a swim at one of the beaches and tried to do some snorkeling and saw..... loads of jellyfishes! I paniced and rushed back to the black beach and stayed at the burning black sand for the rest of the afternoon... :)
