Isole Eolie - Lipari

Typical broschetta from the area

Lipari is the lagest of the the Aeolian islands and it is also called the heart of the islands. It is 37 sq km of area with a maximum length of 9,5 km. Lipari is mountainous and the highest top is just over 600 meters. The island got slightly less than 15 000 inhabitants and the small villages are down the ports.

We took a bus tour around the island that let us off in some panorama places and that taught us a lot about the island so it was nice. After the bus ride we took a walk in one of the villages and had lunch down the sea before we had to get on the boat. This is the only island I really would had loved staying longer, maybe even for few days. From the bus we saw really nice beaches and rocks from where I really fancied having a swim and go snorkeling. I actually already now starts to think of a holiday in Sicily and spend few days also on Lipari. But is essential to have a car on the island to get around to the nice places so it needs some good planning but I hope to go back.
