Mum and Cicci arrived to Milan

As today was my last day at work I today for real started my packing. A never ending job where I actually don't even know what to do with all my things.

A good start was to send up 4 20kg boxes to Stockholm. The currier was coming today but he could not say when so I had to sit at home in between 9am and 6pm to wait for him.... Italian organization...

By midday my mum and my childhood friend Cicci arrived so then came to lunch in my place and then helped me doing some packing until the currier finally came around 5pm and we could go out.

We went for a walk and ended up having aperitvo at wonderful Deseo in Sempione and even Torri joined us after a while. An area which is a must seen for tourists visiting Milan during the summer.

Sheraton Diana Majestic

 

What a day... A river of bad news has reached me today that completely broke me down. I only got out of bed to have lunch and to force myself to pop down to the gym. Lets say it was a bad Sunday.

Thanks god for good friends that pulls you out when you need it the most. Just to get out and think of something else.

Tonight Anna and I went to Sheraton Diana Majestic for an aperitivo. It is, I guess, the most beautiful bar in Milan. A small oasis of nature hidden in a garden in the heart of Milan. The place is fantastic. The cocktails are good. The people are good looking and fancy dressed. The food though is not much to talk about, but at least you can fill you stomach up with salads, pastas and some hams and stuff if you want to. The price for all this is almost the double than a normal aperitivo in Milan, 14 euros. But I love it anyway. Diana is just a place for me.

Bar Bianco with Anna

 

Today after work I met up with Anna for an aperitivo at Bar Bianco.

Bar Bianco is a bar in the heart of the big park Sempione in central Milan. The location is great. Too bad that both the cocktails they do and the aperitivo buffets are crap. But like I said, the location is great and even if I get kind of allergic I just loved to sit in the middle of the nature, sipping at a cocktail and talking to good friend.
 

 

Afterwards, as we didn't eat much at Bar Bianco we went to Anna's place for a delicious tuna sallad and to see her two cats performing in the funniest cat show I ever seen :-)

Old Fashion come back

 

Wednesdays at Old Fashion used to be our weekly tradition two years ago. The international event with dinner buffet, cocktail, shows, friends and lots of dancing (disco) all for just 5 euro was the best and funniest Wednesday deal my first year in Milan.Stefii, Francii, myself and many others were there every Wednesday, week after week dancing like mad and having lots of fun.

But then, I don't know what happened but suddenly we didn't go anymore. Maybe it was because both Stefii and Francii moved away from Milan but if I remember it right we stopped even before that. For two years I have been thinking of going but then I have never managed to find the time. Two years...

Yesterday however me, Stefii and some other friends went and it was all the same. A part from that they had changed the position of one of the bars in the garden every thing was the same as two years ago. The staff was the same. The food was the same (I love their spicy chicken). The cocktails were the same. Even the absolutely great music style was the same. We felt like home and had a great night and now I guess there will be more Old fashion Wednesday's to come :-)

A hint of orient

Just got back home from an evening with Stefii, her boyfriend Davide, Stefano and Matteo at Siddharta cafe. 

I love Italian food, it is my absolute favorite cousin of all but when living in Italy and I am spoiled with eating great Italian food all days I like changes from time to time. So tonight I dragged my friends to the oriental aperitivo lounge for some different food and drinks. I think I can talk for all of us that it was really good :)

First aperitivo outside of the year

Something I really adore are warm evenings. Evenings when you can walk around without jackets and sit in a garden or at a terrace without being cold. 

Lets say that today was on the limit... we had just above 20 degrees in the late evening and after drinking some icy cocktail I started to feel a bit cold. But it was wonderful anyway! I have been longing so much for the spring that I am not appreciating it so much.

After work I met up with Stefii who is in Milan and we went for a quick shopping tour (no I did not buy anything) and then to Bar Blanco for an aperitivo. It was my first time at Bar Blanco but I am glad I found it as it is quite close to my place and a great place to have a drink at summer time :-)

Ape at Cius with Steppy

Ciu's is a bar in between Lima and Loreto which offers very well done cocktails and a rich buffet of food. Here, for sure, you can go for an aperitivo (only pay the 9euro for your cocktail) and eat a real dinner out of the buffet.

The buffet offers grilled chicken, different kinds of meat, some fish dishes and lots of different vegetables made in all kind of ways. They also have desserts and some times fresh fruit in the buffet. What else can you ask for the tiny 9 euro you pay?

Important to book a table before coming as the place is always full!

A picture from tonight's after work aperitivo with Silvia, Valentina, Roby and Ilii at Noon Milano.  Always nice to meet these girls and Noon is always a beautiful bar in a great location. The food isn't that great though...

Now I am stucked in front of The Apprentice Italia at TV.

Quick blog update before getting to bed... Like I wrote in my earlier post tonight I first headed for a walk in Sempione park with my boyfriend and then we went to Jazz Cafe to meet up with Steppy and Sarah for an aperitivo. It was long time ago I went to Jazz Cafe but it was as nice as always. Quite nice food and drinks but I live the place itself and the live jazz music mixed with trendy house. It is unique!

H Club Diana bar

I love that lamp!

H Club Diana Bar is the real name of the hotel bar in Sharaton Diana Majestic hotel. I learned it today as I have always just called it "Diana Majestic" before...

Today, maybe the last time for this year, Steppy and I enjoyed a nice cocktail in their garden. I just love their garden with all the exotic plants, beautiful fountain and cosy lights but obviously it is only open summer time. It is also nice looking at all the super well dressed people hanging in there...

The thing I like less is that if you order the cocktails from the waiter you pay 12 euro for the aperitivo but if you go to the bar to order your drink you only pay 10 euro. I find it very ridiculous but I normally order from the waiter anyway.

However it is always to spend an evening at Diana.

Aperitivo at Scalo Farini

A catch up with my ex colleagues/friends at a place I had never been to before, Scalo Farini. The weather was nice so we sat outside at the terrace, had a drink and some food from the buffet. Quite nice but slightly unhealthy things to eat. Very nice evening.

Obika Brera and K2 Gelateria

Isn't it strange to get out a warm summer night and instead of sitting down at the beautiful terrace you choose to sit inside where the air con in on max? For a Swede for sure it's strange as Swedish people always seek opportunities to stay outside as much as possible when the weather permits...

Yesterday Ilaria and I cached up for an aperitivo in the old part of Milan, Brera. We went for a walk and then we choose to go to Obika. The aperitivo was cheaper than normal but they also had much less things to eat. A refreshing berry ice cocktail, some vegetables, buffalo mozzarella and fresh focaccia later we left for another walk before we took the scooter in search for an ice cream place.

As many places are closed now during the holiday weeks we went all the way to K2 gelateria, that some of my readers has recommended. The thing is that it was half empty too thanks to the lack of people around... We had a nice gratita anyway :)

I had a quick catch up with Steppy at Dom Cafe after work. Had an aperitivo and a little walk.
The aperitivo at Dom was, sorry for saying it, crap. Didn't like anything they the buffet offered. However the area is very nice just for a cocktail in the sumemrs :)

Now I am packing as tomorrow I am off down to the south Italy which is gonna be a big adventure.
