Mas Quenada with Stefii

Stefii is in Milan for work as but as it is impossible to find a hotel in Milan during the "Salone del mobile" fair she is staying with me. Tonight we fancied having a big and nice dinner out so we went for mexican food in a "new tex restaurant" - Mas Quenada. It is just 5 minutes with car from my place.

We had the house special fajitas with mixed meat and grilled pineapple. Really nice!

Aqua Combat

Last week my plan was to rest my sore back as much as possible hoping it would get better. It didn't get better.

This week my plan is to movc as much as possible still hoping my sore back will get better... We'll see...

Silvia turned me down in the last second to join the aqua combat class tonight but in the end I was brave enough to go alone. Aqua combat!? I haven't done boxing (or anything similar) since I lived in London so I didn't know what to expect.

It turned out to be a kind of box fitness class in water. A non stop work out class doing all kinds of hitting and kicking underneath the water. It was cool. Quite hard. But as you are under the water and you don't feel if you sweat it doesn't feel as hard as normal training.

Fun new course I for sure will try to do more of.

Good night!

And some pics...

Signs of the spring? I really hope so! I so had enough of the winter, the cold and all the rain.

I love Decaton!

One of my favorite stores in Milan is Decaton. I just love it. Look at the sign above and you might be able to understand why...

It has got all kinds of sports clothes and equipment. Everything from skiing, biking, horse riding, golf, diving, cycling, tracking to more simple things like running, fitness, yoga, swimming and different kinds of ball sports.

I love just walking around the store and watch the at all the things. Wishing I could be able to do all those sports. What a dream!

I also like buying obviously. On my free time I am dressed in sports clothes much more often than I dress up nicely. And at the gym I feel more motivated if I feel good in my training clothes so I like to get myself a new sporty present from time to time.

Today I bought a new swim suit as I want myself to go swimming more often.

Thanks Decaton, I love you :)

Gravity group training

For the first time in my life today I tried the gravity training.

The gravity training system (GTS) is a kind of strange device (see pics above) which uses the own body weight to train the whole body in a kind of different way.

GTS builds body strength by working all biggest muscle groups together. The main propose is to stabilize the core, the abdomen and the back, and from that work also legs, arms and chest.

The exercises on the GTS says to create stronger and leaner muscles than normal muscle training as it encourage the muscle groups to work better together. And it is one of the best core training you can do.

I felt kind of lost in the beginning of the class but after maybe 15 minutes I got the trick and enjoyed it. It was hard, actually very hard for my legs that are not used to work out that hard. For my sore back it was great and my poor abbs will hurt a lot tomorrow for sure.

However, interesting, fun and different way of training!

Bussarakham with Matteo and Fabrii

You all know I am a big thai food lover... So, I go on searching for Thai places also in Milan even if it us not very a popular cousin here.

Yesterday, as a last minute plan Matteo, Fabrii and I decided to go for a thai dinner and as it was Saturday we chose a place we knew would be slightly more expensive, I didn´t know more than that.

...and that is why the three of us were really surprised when we walked into one of the most beautiful restaurants we had ever seen. Bussarakham is in the Navigli area and I have passed many times but never noticed it as from the outside it looks like nothing special.

Instead it was really really really nice. The service was great. The food was really good. And the place itself very fancy, cosy and thai-characteristic.

Just loved it! And I will be back for sure!

Fight against my back pain

It has been almost two weeks since I went to the gym. Two long weeks. That is a very big, far to big, gym break for me. And like I said the other day, I have been feeling less energetic and I haven't slept well at all... I really have been missing it.

This morning Silvia picked me up at 9.45 and we went to the Virgin village.

As a warm up started of with 20 minutes of biking. Then she went to the Nike couse but I felt my back couldn't makt it so I went on doing another 45 mintes of cardio.
- Bike - 20 min
- Uphill walking - 20 min
- Running - 10 minues

Then a personal trainer helpt me with some back muscles exercises.

After this hour of warming up I joined a 45 min stretching course. It was great. I could really feel my poor muscles stretching out well.

Then... I though I was done for today but the same personal training as before came and told me that I should do some lanes of swimming, so I did 20 swimming lanes.

And after that, finally I went to the spa and just relaxed.

4 hours at the gym but I think it did me just great. I so much love my gym!

What a week!

I haven't had time even to blink this week. Time has just disappeared I don't know where...

It was great to be on holiday but to come back and jump straight into the month end closing and reconciliations was harder than I thought. I have worked 11 hours a day this week and not until today I felt I was able to actually breath. Tomorrow things will get better.

Outside work I haven't done much. My back is still hurting even if I am actually able to move almost without any problems now. But I haven't been able to go to the gym at all and I feel terrible. I really miss it both mentally and fiscally. For example I sleep so much better when I go training regularly.

Tonight I went out for the first time this week. A quick pizza and catch up with sweet Stephanie at Pizza OK. Very nice!

For the rest I got nothing else to share unfortunately... I am looking forward to a relaxing weekend!

Flying back to Milan with a broken back...

Sunset over the snowy alps

A small detail I have forgot to mention in the blog is that since Saturday I am suffering from something I think is called "lumbago" in English. Ryggskott in Swedish. Like terrible lower back pains that started off Saturday morning when I suddenly was blocked. I couldn't move. Terrible feeling.

I spent Saturday at home with my family and I slept bad that night. I read online that the best thing was to move and not stand, sit or lay still.

Yesterday I went with Erika to the stable and we walked for more than an hour in the beautiful nature and I think it helped me a lot.

Today it was time to fly back to Milan. Almost three hours sitting still on the plane. I watched a movie and tried not to think about the pain. I went up walking up and down the airplane once but the whole trip was a nightmare.

I was so lucky that a wonderful friend of mine came to pick me up at the airport here in Milan and took me back all the way into my flat with my heavy bags.

Now I want the back pain to go away as soon as possible so I can get back to my normal sporty life...

Lunch at Vurma before leaving Stockholm

Had lunch with my parents at one of my favourite coffee places, Vurma, before flying back. The nice thing is that they accept also dogs to come in so Stella could join us :-)
