Isola d'Elba - Fetovaia

This could easily had been my favorite beach too... It is famous to be the most beautiful place of the island which its crystal clear water, golden fine sand and smooth cliffs. Strangely enough the weather felt a bit chilly but we enjoyed hours in the water just snorkeling around anyway.

Fetovaia is beautifully situated in a narrow inlet on the south west side of the island and therefore it is very popular by the tourists and almost always very crowded. I guess that's why I didn't like it as much as Cavoli, too much people and impossible to get real peace.  We had a nice sea food lunch at one of the restaurants and after lunch we left to see something else...

Veronika decides to die by Paulo Coelho

Once again I have read a book by amazing Paulo Coelho and once again I finished reading with my mouth open of... I don't know, maybe chock. It is such a strange story, like most of his books and thanks of the titel I haven't fancy reading it before even if I have had it at home since years.

The book is about Veronica, a young girl that decides to take her life with an overdose of pills just because she is not really happy. She is not unhappy but confused about her life and don't really see a meaning to keep living as her life is quite boring. Veronica does not die and instead she wakes up in a mental hospital where we will follow her thoughts together with other three characters stacked in the same hospital. None of the four characters are genuinely insane and therefore it is very interesting to get to know their stories.

The book was fascinating, truly eye-opening and the end was chocking. I learned a lot from this book as I always do when reading Paulo Coelho's stories and the book got stacked on my mind.

Isola d'Elba - Cavoli

Cavoli Beach, my favourite of all beaches we visited during our week at Isola d'Elba. It is a 300 meters long beach with white fine granite sand. The water was really transparent and perfectly clean which is not very common on sand beaches. The beach is framed with beautiful cliffs perfect for diving and snorkeling.

The beach is on the southern coast of the island just 4,5 km from Marina di Campo (where we lived). It is not very easy for parking but we were there early in the morning and was lucky to find a free parking space along the road and then we walked 5 minutes down to the beach. It got few bars and restaurants and also a shop where to buy snacks, magazines, drinks, sun creams and other things for the beach.

I just loved this beach and if we would had stayed more than one week on the island I am sure we would had spent more than just a day there. This is a must visit beach for whoever visit Elba!

Happy hour with Stefii at Blender bar

Thanks god Stefii was in Milan tonight. I still feel a bit down being back from wonderful Elba so what could be better than spend the night with one of my best friends.

We went to Blender, an aperitivo bar quite close to where I live. The fruit cocktail was nice and the food as good as always.

Isola d'Elba - Lancona

The second day on the Elba island we went to Lacona beach. It is one of the biggest and most visited. It is a long white sandy beach situated in a bay and on one side the beach meets the rocks where you can climb up and go snorkeling. As this was the first real day on the sea and the first day in years I went snorkeling I was stunned by the beautiful sea, clean beach and lovely fishes but now afterwads I can say that after Marina del Campo and Procchio it was the beach I liked least.

However the beach is easy to reach, it got good parking opportunities and nice bars just on the beach so it is comfortable and good for relax. We stayed the whole day even if we had decided to visit two beaches a day just because it was an ideal place for all we wanted; relax, long beach walks, swimming, snorkeling and lunch and ice creams at the bar with sea view.

Back from Isola d'Elba

We are now back in Milan after 7 amazing days on the paradise island Elba plus a weekend in Florence.

Tonight I am far to tired to write about the holiday but I will add pictures from every place we have visited time by time during the week. I just need to sort out the pictures first and get back on track here in Milan.

All I can say now is that I have had an amazing holiday and that I feel sad to be back already...

Isola d'Elba here I come!

 I can't believe it. I am on holiday. I gonna go away a whole week to a pretty little island outside the Tuscany coast in the Mediterranean sea and only relax and enjoy with my boyfriend.

Since moving to Italy two and a half years ago I have never done a long holiday. I have done many amazingly nice little trips to the Italian seaside, lakes, cities, to London and home to Stockholm but a I haven't done a longer holiday since my two weeks down in Viareggio in 2009(!!). That was a very long time ago...

Today I had a very good day at work. I finished off everything I wanted to, including a big project that has been going on since the beginning of the year so I left feeling so satisfied. Now I have almost finish my packing (I love traveling by car so I can bring how much I want without thinking of the bag amound, size or weight) and soon I gonna go to bed as we are starting our way to Elba at 06 tomorrow morning...

I believe that I am very much worth my holiday and I guess I won't be blogging during this week so I wish you all the best.

Nikon J1 camera and other holiday shopping

Last night I went shopping, Packing for the holidays I suddenly realised that it was a lot of things I actually needed to buy before going away so yesterday me and my boyfriend went to a big shopping centre outside Milan.

I bought this pretty little camera. It actually was a late birthday present from my dad but it took me a while to choose if buying a big system camera, a normal compact camera or a mirrorless camera. In the end I choose Nikon J1, a mirrorless, a compact system camera with interchangeable lens. It should be a system camera in compact size, lower weight and higher speed. I bought it with the medium size lens, 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 VR lens, but might buy a bigger one further on. This little new baby till join me on my holiday on Monday.

Yesterday I also bough snorkelling products, sun cream, after sun, a pair of flip-flops and a pair of white ballerinas. My boyfriend bought a white beach hat.

Two days left and then we're on the road... can't wait...

Catching fire by Suzanne Collins

I started the second book of The Hunger Games with high hopes and expectations but I must say I was slightly disappointed. Catching fire is a good book, actually a very good and gripping story but not as good as the first one and it didn't meet my expectations at all.

The first book (The hunger games) was thrilling, action packed and a real page-turner that I wanted to keep reading until the end of the last page. Catching fire, the second book, wasn't really the same. The story was good but a little bit the same as the first one and it just did not manage to grip me in the same way as the first book.

However, I finished it quickly and with joy and as the book ends with a real cliffhanger end that left me hungry to get more out of the Hunger hames trilogy. I will have to wait until the next time I go up to Stockholm to get the last book but I actually can't wait to read that one too.
