Gelateria Marghera

In the guidebook I got from Valeria as a leaving present it said Gelateria Marghera had Milano's best icecream and here we are, far away in the middle of nowhere watching crazy italians fighting for their icecream. The streets around in the area are empty but here it's packed. People are parking their cars and vespas everywhere bkocking the street and there's a massive queue even outside the bar.

Miss love trying new things (me) obviously had to try it and... it was amazing. The icecream season is starting off soon and here in Milano there's no Lelio (my flatmate in Bologna) controlling me not to eat more than two icecreams a day like he had to do five years ago when I lived in Bologna ;) I can't help it, I just looooooove Italian icecream!!!

Pasquetta

Easter Monday, still a festive day here in Italy. Today the sun is shining and its 18degrees warm, niiice!!

Erik woke me up at 10am this morning and after a quick breakfast we immediately went out. We've been walking from my house to the opposite side of town and we've seen lots of nice parks and piazzas on the way. Now we're having picknick lunch in front of castello Sforzesco and later we'll walk into the big park "parco sempione" looking for some icecream. Lovely day!!!

Rainy day in Milano

Three pics from our rainy day around Milano...Me outside the museum, Erik in front of il duomo and a Erik and a big easter egg outside La Scala opera house.

Now it's movie time. We gonna watch the Italian movie "Il Divo" that very kindly Ekko downloaded to me before I left London. Should be good but its all in advanced italian and without subtitels so its gonna be a good lesson for both of us :)

California Bakery

Before leaving London I asked around all my italians friends for advices and tips for Milano; restaurants, bars, coffee places etc. Three of them recommended "California Bakery" as Milano's best brumch place. Also last week when I was out for dinner with Brami's friends here in Milano they also kept saying how good it so I immediately put it on my list of things I have to do/see/try here.
Today after the museum Erik and I walked around town for a while and then we started our search for a lunch place... Misson impossible... Easter Sunday in Milano and obviously everything's closed. We walked around for more than an hour on empty and dead streets and everything was mega closed. Then, suddenly in the middle of nowhere we saw an open place, the famous California bakery, like sent from heaven, haha. We ordered bagels and cappuccion's and it was amazingly good!!

Pinacoteca di Brera

Today we've been cultural and we've been to Pinacoteca di Brera, one of the biggest art museums in Milano. I've never been ovely interested in art but sometimes its nice to go to museums, look around and read about the different art pieces. As Italy is very cultural its a must to visit the main museums and now Ive seen one. Check!

Easter breakfast

Italy might have the best food in the world but they absolutely don't have the best breakfast, there Sweden and also England is far above. Here a normal breakfast consists of a croissant or some cookies plus a coffee, that's it.

Now Erik is here and its Easter so we though of having an extra nice breakfast alla sweden. Freash bread, butter, cheese, prosciutto, tomatoes, egg, yoghurt and coffee. The swedish breakfast tradition with Italian ingeriants, can't get better. Yammi!!

Still gray weather here in Milano but today we're going out to explore the city anyway.

Rainy day

My plan today was to walk around Milano and see some turist things but as its raining like mad I changed my mind and instead I'm just staying in.

Yesterday night was nice. Me and Giose, both new in Milano, decided we wanted to see corso como, which is a famous bar and club street/area. We went there, walked around for a while and choose a very cosy mexican bar. We had some mexican cocktails and snacks and just hanged out. As Giose had to work today we went home quite early and for once I was in bed already at 1.30am...

This morning I woke up quite early and started of the day cleaning my flat. Now Im having lunch, a lovely Piadina, and then I guess I just gonna watch a movie or some Gossip Girls episodes. Lazy day!

Later this afternoon Erik is coming from Sweden and he will be staying here for two days. Thanks god. All Milanesi people left the town for easter so Im happy to get some company :) Fingers crossed for some better weather though!!!

Good Friday

Today, even if it was good friday we had school. The teachers explained it saying it's beacuse it's a privat school (all public schools were off). Lots of people complained and didn't show up but I was honestly happy we had lessions today too. I pay for the course so I want to get the out of it. It was a quite easy day at school though, we talked a lot and ate "colomba" - the tipical Italian easter cake.

After school I went for a long walk with Kendra, an american friend. We walked from school to Duomo - the big cathedral in town were we attended part of the good friday mass. Beautiful! The pic is from the Duomo.

After the mass we went to my place for dinner and now Kendra just left and I am supposed to clean the flat, but instead Im blogging ;) In half an hour Giose is picking me up and we'll go for some drinks somewhere.

Happy Easter everyone!

Stress

When I left London I didn't manage to move all my things I had in London with me so in the end I left some things in Paolo's place (my old flat) and some other things in Kristofer's place. I also didn't find time to try to sell my TV. Now I'm constantly stressed as I know I need to find a solution to everything. For my things I can choose 1. Go to London for a weekend in april or may and get them. 2 try to convince someone in london to come and visit and bring them. 3 ask Kris and Paolo to ship the things down in a box with DHL. I really don't know what to do...

Then the bloody TV... Does anyone know someone that could be interested to buy a 26" flatscreen TV?? Or can suggest how I could sell it, from here...???

Now Im sitting in the evening sun close to "porta Genova" waiting for a friend to go for an aperitivo. The school closed so I couldn't stay and go surfing so instead I have to sit here 20 min waiting like a freak. Maybe I should start doing my homework for tomorrow. An essay of 100-150 words of what I think about Italian people and especially Italian guys. Haha. The right girl to ask ;) I got lots to say anyway, looking forward to start writing!

Buona serata
