The day that disappeared

Today, Saturday, is gone and I can't understand how. I got up at 11am this morning feeling great. I made a little list (the list lover you know) of things I had to do at home before going out, like washing clothes, cleaning, writing e-mails etc etc. Then I went to the kitchen to make some tea.... three hours later I got back to my room realising I had to shower and then rush out to meet Tamara. What happend... in the kitchen I met my flatmate Luisa and we ended up having a very deep conversation about guys, love and relationships and the time just flew away.

In the afternoon I went for some tea with Tamara and then I had to go to work. Tonight, thanks to the bloody 'International design and furtniture fair' here in Milano La Rinascente (where I work) decided to keep open until 23.oo so I worked 5 hours. I shouldn't complain, I'm paid per hour I work so I'm happy for every hour they want me to work actually but it's hard to work until 23.00, especially as you have to stand up all the time.

After work I went for a little walk with a collage and we stayed for maybe half an hour at Piazza Duomo watching a concert but I was hungry and cold so then I went home.

Imagne, a whole weekend only working and not partying. You guys can't belive it, heh... But it's good! I don't spend money (I'm actually earning money), I don't drink and I sleep a lot. I think my body needs that after 3 months of crazyness :)

Pics; my department Givenchy and me at work.

Last day in school

Today was my last day at Leonardo language school. So sad! I have honestly really really enjoyed it. For sure I learned a lot and I also met so many nice people, both the teachers and other students. I so would like to go on study another month or so but its just waste of money. I might need to train the grammar rules but I reached the end of the grammar they are teaching, the following level is just repeating. Now I just need to speak much more Italian and ask people to correct my mistakes.I do have some grammar books at home so I s h o u l d study them as well... Anyway, I am improving a lot so Im happy!

Today in school we had a big test; grammar, writing and understanding. I though I would fail it all as I don't know the different verbs but I didn't. Opposite, I passed it with the vote "ottimo" as I got 95 of 100. Failed on the bloody passato remoto.

Next week I will to go back to school to get my certificate! :)

Aftetr school I went for a long walk with Kendra and Yoki and I also managed to buy an internet key from Vodafone for only 9euro wich included 150 minutes of traffic that I need to use within a month. Great!!

Tonight I've been working again and now Im on my way home to get changed. I t h i n k I will go out but I'm honestly very tired so we ll see...

Another day...

Yesterday night I slept very bad, donno why as I was exhausted... Maybe I was too tired?

This morning I woke up at 6.30am when I received a text message which invited me to Como this weekend. Hmm. Didn't manage to get back to sleep afterwards so I got up.

Went to school early and started to tick off the list of people I need to email. Then my 4 hours lesson before heading streight home. Made a nice piadina for lunch and then I slept for two hours before I had to rush to work.

4 hours work... I kind of enjoy it today as well but now I know.... I'm not a seller. Espesially not in Italian. Impossible. However, I am there so I do my best! I will stay these two weeks. I had one day probation period and now the contract can't be broken!! At least not from their side. Hard rules in this country...

Steright home after work. Ate some looovely prosciutto and melon for dinner while discussing/arguing about the weekend plans with Mr complicated. Gah.

Ended the evening wathing a piece of "Pretty Woman" with Francesca so now I go to bed with a smile.

Buenas noches.

What a day!

School in the morning. Only four people in so the four of us had to work very hard... Puh.

After school, straight to the Kelly Services agency to sign the job contract. They called me yesterday and asked me to bring ID and the codice fiscale (that I still don't know what it is) and I brought it - my swedish ID and a copy of the CF but it was not good enough. They needed my passport because according to them sweden was not 100% part of the europeen union and they also needed the original piece of paper of the codice fiscale... GAH. So I had to rush home, get what they needed and rush back and then I finally signed the bloody contract.

Then I had to rush to the Rinascente where more problems were waiting. I needed security pass' security deposit, security bag, aecurity contract... You name it. Jezez.

Well finally I got in and I could start my training. I stated off with the practical things, easy. Then it was time to leaen all the make up products, the skin products, perfumes etc. My head wanted to explode. I honestly wanted to give uo after just an hour but as both my collegues were very nice in some kind of may I resisted. I work alone the last two hours and I survived, and I sold products for more than 200 euro, not bad for the first day I think.

I really don't know if selling is my kind of job (guess not) but for sure selling in a store is million times better than over the phone.

Now Im exhausted and Im on my way home. Sleeeeep. Another long day is waiting tomorrow.

Pic: VERY tired Maria on her way home.

Good night and sorry for not answering any of the birthday emails yet, I will! Asap!

Miss you all!

Italian job interview

Today I had my first Italian interview... Jezez. I don't know the language and I didn't know anything about the brand I was applying for. Good start, not. Anyway, Thanks god I have a big interest in luxury creams and cosmetics so at least I had something to talk about....

I came there, I taked for a while with one of the managers about myself, my work experience, my language knowledge and my interest in cosmetics. Very very nice lady! And then she just said she wants me to start tomorrow straight after school, what! I was in chock!
So, I will work at Rinascente just opposite to the Duomo in central Milano. Its a big luxury department store with cosmetics, handbags, clothes etc. I will be workig for Givenchy cosmetics which is in a corner on the ground floor, quite bad location. Its just a small sales department and I will be working alone there!!! Jeeeeezez! I don't know if this job will fit me but it's just one way of finding out, to try!
Time to go home and study all the Givenchy products! Need to learn them all.
Tonight I was suppost to go partying at Just Cavalli or Hollywood with Gabrielle but obviously now I can't :( Instead I will meet him and and also Stefania just for a quick drink in town. Guess my life will have to change a bit the next weeks...

12.04.2010

...My birthday! I has school in the morning and just half class was in due to the early hours... During the class they called me from La Rinascente (a department store like NK/selfridges) and invited me for an interview tomorrow. They need someone to work for one of the cosmetic brands in the evenings for the next two weeks, which would be great for me! However the interview's gonna be all in Italian so I guess my chances to get the job are small... Well, fingers crossed for me!

After work I went to Univeristy Bocconi looking for job ads. Didn't find any job ads but got to know some new people in the corridor so I stayed for lunch with them. A bit wierd I know. Like most Italians I know has a degree from Bocconi so it was a quite fun to see the school.......

After that I started my search for to food for tonight. The hardest was to find some goat cheese and cakes. In the end I found goat cheese but no cake but I was lucky as my flatmate came home with cakes for me so in the end I even had two cakes on the table :)

Well, tonight I had a birthday dinner with 8 girls and one guy. I made goat cheese toasts as a starter and spagetti all'amatriciana as a main. Then Alssandro very nicely came with the cakes with candles for dessert. Very nice dinner and very sweet presents - now I am very happy. Three weeks in the city and now I feel I have people around me I actually can call friends :)

Now I really need to go to bed. Need to get up super early and tomorrow I need to be fit for fight as I'm having the interview.

Thanks to ALL you people for your lovely birthday wishes!!! My mobile phone is exhausted of all calls, texts, e-mails and obviously the madness on facebook where I must have got over 50 wallposts and 20 e-mails. I haven't answered a single message or e-mail yet but slowly I'll try to answer most of them.

Buona notte my wonderful friends. I'm almost in tears when I think about all celebrations I got today. Means so much to me!!!

* pics of dinner guests (almost all;), my cake and the last one with Julia holding Filippo (Mickey mouse) which was one of the presents from my flatmates :)

New school rota

This is my forth and last week in school. The first three weeks I've been having classes only in the afternoon, 2pm - 5.30pm. Easy life, eh.... ;) Its been easy to go out every single night and then wake up at 11am the morning after.

This week we changed rota, I advanced one more level and now I need to be in school 8.30am - 1pm. It was a pure pain to wake up at 7am this morning :(

Anyway, should be good. This week I gonna start looking for a job so I have the whole afternoons to go job hunting. Today, after school, the plan is to go down to Bucconi university as I heard they have a big board with jobs for english speakers, we'll see...

Sunday in Rho...

Everything is closed.... And its raining.... Party, haha. Keep falling asleep in front of the TV where I'm following the football games. Lazy but cosy Sunday in other words :) Soon I go back to Milano and tonight I guess I stay in to try to study a bit.

Last day of being 28... My birthday tomorrow! A bit boring to celebrate my birthday in a city where I don't know anyone but what to do....
