Sugar exhibition

There was a time when we thought sugar was a health source

The beautiful Nordic museum

Yesterday I went together with Johanna, Lisa and Cicci to an exhibition at the grandiose Nordic museum in Stockholm. The exhibition was about sugar and it development in Sweden during the last centuries.

Sugar has gone from being a luxury that only the royalty had  to an accepted food product of our everyday life.

When we think about sugar we normally think about candy, chocolate, bakeries, ice-cream, soft drinks and cakes. What we don’t think of is that sugar is all around us in almost everything we eat. Pasta, rice, crisps, juices, yogurt, ketchup, musli, bread, milk… The list can go on forever.

I don’t see myself as a big sugar-eater. Idon’t like chocolate and I rarely eat candies, ice-cream or bakeries, but I don’t really think about all the invisible sugar I eat. I got a bit disgusted when at the exhibition but quite quickly I decided to keep the information in mind but I won’t change my food habits too much. We all believe in different diets and my own diet consists of eating varied and regularly. I try not to eat too much neither of sugar or fat food. I try to make sure to eat fish and vegetables as often as I can. On top of this I also exercise regularly making sure to fill my schedule with cardio, weighs and yoga in between 3 to 5 times a week. Being far away from perfect I still believe I live a healthy lifestyle!

Back blogging?

Don’t ask me why I stopped blogging. After six years of blogging regularly suddenly I felt I had nothing interesting to share…

While living abroad I shared “my life abroad”. Just the fact that I was living in another country; experiencing different  cultures felt special and worth sharing on a blog. I had an average 200-400 unique clicks on my blog per day and I had no clue who most of these people were. Scary? Fun? Then I thought the visitor number would drop when I moved to Sweden, how interesting could it be follow a “Swedish girl living in Sweden” but the number slightly raised and therefore I felt motivated to go on blogging for some months until I one day  woke up and haI totally lost all inspiration and motivation to go on sharing my life. So I stopped.

Friends and family have begged me to start blogging again. I even have got some e-mails from “strangers” saying that they miss my blogging. But I didn't want to. Until  the other day when my colleagues and I started talking about blogs in general I for the first time in a long time felt I kind of missed it so now I have decided to start it up again. Slowly. I won’t blog every day as I used to and maybe not even every week but I will keep my blog alive by adding parts of my life to it as I used to and I even feel excited about it :)

Just to give you a short resume of some news in my life… Since this spring I work as an accountant at the bank SEB. I am dating my love Christoffer and a couple of months ago we even moved in together, an important step in my life which so far feels great. My job and my relationship are two very important parts of me being very happy and satisfied with my life at the moment. On top of that I am extremely happy being around my friends and family that I missed so much while living abroad. Let say I am happy with my big and difficult decision of moving back to Sweden after 9 years abroad.

Well, from here I will start blog updating regularly again.

Foody team building

It was a while ago since I attended a proper team building. Actually, when thinking about it none of my work places in Italy organized anything even similar to team building at work so last time for me was when working for Gala Coral in London.

I have been working at the bank a couple of months now and had my first team building experience the other day. We were two finance teams having a great evening together cooking and eating Italian food.

It was great fun! The place is called Buon Appetito and organizes cooking courses as fun event evenings. We got randomly devided into smaller groups and each group (of 3-4 people) cooked one meal together for everyone. You can image how much food we had to eat by the end of the evening... But we also had plenty of wine and time to eat and I must say we really had a fun night together.

Birthday celebration at Patricia

Only took these three pictures unfortunately, but hey, better than nothing

Happy birthday to Johanna and myself that this weekend celebrated our 33rd birthdays with a big dinner at the restaurant boat Patricia

I have since my 18th birthday been getting birthday wishes from Patricia offering a free two course dinner for myself and half price on all food if I bring along 5-35 friends. I have never used the offer and I start to wonder why. The food was very good, the boat is situated with a beautiful view over the old town of Stockholm and later on in the evening the restaurant transforms into a nightclub.

Johanna and I had invited 9 friends each so we were 20 people having dinner together. A little too much people to be able to talk to everyone but still, we had a good time. We were just a few staying dancing until late but I must say I really had a great evening on that boat :)

Birthday evening with my parents

Pictures from Friday night

Saturday was my birthday and I must say I have been greatly celebrated.

On Friday my mum, dad and Bosse took me for dinner at Capri Due - a kind of fancy Italian restaurant that used to be one of my favourites during my high school years. The food was very nice and the service great. The whole staff is Italian and some of them hardly speaks a word of Swedish which obviously isn’t a problem for my family, it actually feels like a big plus - A true Italian dinner for the little Italian inspirited family :)

On Saturday I had another birthday lunch with my mum and dad and in the evening I celebrated with Johanna and another 19 friends at the boat-restaurant Patricia. More of that in a later blog post.

This morning Cicci and her mum came over with flower and presents for a little birthday lunch at my place. And in the afternoon Zarah and her boyfriend Eric invited me out for a birthday fika.

I feel overwhelmed in my heart for all my adorable friends that have been celebrated or contacted me for birthday wishes this weekend. Thank you all!

Girls night out with Amanda

Met Amanda on Friday for a little girls night out, just the two of us. We went for thai dinner at a place nearby her flat and then moved on to Lemonbar for drinks, talks and dancing.

We tried to remember the last time the two of us went out for a night out together. Just the two of us. With no men. And no kids. And we realized it might have been 10 years ago. 10 long years. Unbelievable!

I so wish I could have my greatest friend Amanda here in Stockholm all the time but I can't and instead I am so grateful every time she pops by. And now I guess it it time for me to visit her in Charmonix as well, very soon!
