Friday fix

Today I've done nothing. Internet haven't been working at home so I just spend the day relaxing. Went for a long walk in the sun, bougjt a DVD player for my room and spend the late afternoon watching sex and the city. I so missed having a TV and DVD in my room :)

Now I'm getting ready as the girls are soon coming over for drinks and then we're going out dancing!!

Overly full I'm now off to bed to read my amazing book! As you can see my diet is not going overly well as I'm out for dinner every single night. Sigh :)

Thoughts about Milan

(The Navigli area in Milan)

More and less a year ago I took the decision together with my mum that I was moving to Milan. It had been my dream since 5 years before when I did my Erasmus semester in Bologna so when the idea came up while crying in the phone I didn't hesitate to take the decision to leave all I had in London and move to Italy. The next question was where in Italy I should move? I choose between Rome, Bologna and Milan and took the decision to move to Milan as that was the city of the three I didn't know at all... I just thought it would be the city in Italy most similar to London, people told me I was wrong, but I was right.

Milan is always awake! People are alive and everyone are really living their lives to it's maximum. They go out for drinks, aperitivos, dinners, parties more and less every evening - exactly like in London. There are always happenings going in the this fashion capital. The city might not be as international as London or New York but close. I meet foreigners on a daily basis; people who's here for university studies, languages studies, work or just to try their luck in this multicultural city. I must say that people are a bit superficial, posh and maybe a bit too aware of their look but I can admit that now when I'm used to it I kind of like being surrounded by people who's always doing their best to look good. People are not as open minded as in London but I found it very easy to get to know people and meet new friends anyway. The Milanese people are very career minded but I must say they are good ad keep work and private life apart.

Milan offers things for everyone. Culture, fashion, shopping, parties etc etc The food is amazing but the restaurants are a bit expensive. Instead they have the most amazing aperitivos where you pay for a drink and then you eat all you want from fantastic buffets.

Milan is a all season city. It got on average 3 months of winter, 3 months of spring, 4 months of summer and 2 months autumn. Within 30-60 minutes you reach on of the beautiful lakes and within 2 hours you're at the amazing coast or in the Alps.

To be an Italian city it's very clean and well organized. The public transport works well and it's almost always on time.

I love living here! I feel alive, happy and inspired. But I know that the weather would suit me better if I would move more south.... Will write about Rome in the next coming days.

Givenchy Makeup Collection for Spring 2011

This is the new spring make up collection from Givenchy which is released today here in Italy. I tried it all yesterday and I these are my thoughts;

  • Photo Perfexion Light Evanescent Fluid Foundation SPF 10: It's a very light foundation with sun protection and it has a built in foam applicator Great for the summer.
  • Blush Gelee – Jelly blush: Also with a built in sponge applicator and a high water content that gives a cooling sensation. I love it and I want it!
  • Le Primes Yeux Quator – in orange, green and brown tones: Nice but not as nice as the other eye shadows Givenchy has.
  • Magil Khol in Coffee: I love Givenchy's eye pencils and this dark brown colour is very nice.
  • Tangerine Lipgloss – glittery texture: Don't like the colour, sorry.
  • Lipstick will be available in 2 shades: vivid orange and an orangey nude: Don't like these colours either. They are just not for me!

Dinner alla Pugliese

Tonight I've been in Cologno, a little town just next to Milan where my friend Sabino lives. He invited me over for a tipical dinner from his areas in Puglia (south east Italy). We ate the delicious food, watched the Milan - Lazio game and surfed around on the web for flats in London - as he's moving there in two weeks. Lucky him :)

Now I'm in the car on my way home to sleep. The day turned out not being that bad in the end - but thanks for the nice messages anyway! :)

One of those days

I woke up early even if I got to bed very late yesterday, couldn't go back to sleep. Stayed in bed for a while thinking about life but realized it was not a good day to think, I had woken up on the wrong side and everything felt to be negative. Oh no, it's one of those days!

I got up and made myself a big and nice breakfast, took my book and disappeared into another reality for a while. Nice. I'm actually reading a really good book at the moment - something positive?

Now I just had a long shower and will soon put on my sunglasses and go for a walk. It's sunny but cold outside. Love the sun but hate the cold. Ihh.

I can add that today was supposed to be my day off but my manager changed it the last second and I have to go to work only for three hours. You see, today is not a good day!

Poff!
