A zumba class or a dance show?

Went for my second zumba class at SATS today. My first one, a couple of weeks ago, was fun but nothing special. Today it was special.

The instructor was just something different from everything I have ever seen at a gym. Instead of paying lots to go to the theater to see a dance show I can just attend this class as he held a show of great class for the around 80 girls dancing in front of him.

I so much enjoyed the whole hour of dancing and I was almost disappointed when it was over. Too bad this amazing zumba class has kind of a tricky schedule time, 12.00, and it is also a bit difficult to get a place as his class quickly get fully booked, but I get why...

But I would strongly recommend Norberto Lacourt's zumba class no Thursdays 12.00 at Medborgarplatsen.

A game of pool

Pictures from today

Stated off the day with a lecture in accounting. This course is really hard and I find it hard keeping up and understand all the methodics. I can´t really do anything than just read as much as I can and slowly slowly learn and understand it more.  Working in accounting is something really different from studying it and it is so many theories to learn.

After school I went home and hot unexpectedly visit from Cicci, so I prepared an Italian frittata with a salad and we had lunch together. I love surprises!

After a whole afternoon of studying I got my second visit of the day. Mum and little Stella came by some of my things.

To move a little bit after sitting still all day I went to Sats Stureplan for a class of body balance. It was different from all the body balance classes I have been too. The class was held in a pure white room without any mirrors at all. I am used to be able to check myself in the mirror when practicing yoga and similar classes but suddenly I just had to concentrate on the feeling of doing the things which made the whole experience different.

As a fun end of the day I went for a couple of hours of pool playing with a friend. I haven't played in at least 10 years and I could hardly hold the cue stick but after a while I got the feeling back. Its like cycling, you never really loose the feeling of it. I can't say I was good at all, but I had fun and now I know I wanna start playing pool more often. Yesterday I lost.

Lunch with two mums :-)

Today I went for lunch with two great girls I have known for quite long now. We used to be the girls hanging at the nightclubs together during our younger years. Those years are gone.

Now both these girls has better things to do than hanging on discos, they have their babies to take care of. Anna got her first sun more than two years ago and her second is on its way. Sandra got her pretty little baby girl just a couple of months ago and today was the first time I met her. So sweet.

In the afternoon I met up with my personal trainer Andreas for another session of gym-technique training. I actually do some exercises wrongly which could be bad for my back. It is just so hard to change them. I have been doing them like that for so long that they are stucked in my head, but I try at least. Now I got some new work outs to focus on until the next personal trainer session.

After the gym I went for a long walk at Djurgården with a friend. The autumn colors are starting to come out and I have to take a walk taking some nice photos one of these days soon.

Restaurang Två and Tranan

Yesterday I welcomed my first Italian visitor since I moved to Stockholm. Paolo is here for one day with his job and I promised to bring him out for a Swedish evening - easier said and done on a Monday evening when half Stockholm is closed and most people are at home watching TV....

However I took him to Restaurang TVÅ, one of my favorite on Rörstrandsgatan and I almost forced him to eat the typical Swedish Toast Skagen and a Fiskgryta. But I was happy seeing he actually liked it a lot.

After the dinner we met up with Cicci and we went for a Swedish beer and cider at Tranan

Wallander Sunday

I have been having a nice little Sunday tradition since I moved to Stockholm...

I have spend every Sunday evening at my mum's place, having dinner and watching a Wallander-movie that they have been showing every Sunday on channel 4.

I used to be a big fan of the Beck-movies but I must say that I kind of liked also the Wallander movies. For you non Swedes, both Beck and Wallander are thriller movies (a whole serie of movies) made out of very popular fiction books.

Dinner and movie with Cicci and Ioannis

A gray, chilly and rainy Saturday evening.

What could have been better than a night in with two great friends, a delicious home made dinner, lots of unhealthy snacks and a good movie.

I guess cosy nights in with good friends will be the new trend for me when the cold Swedish winter arrives... :-)

Kanelbullens dag

Dinner

Swedish Kanelbullar

Champagne cocktails at Ljunggren

Kanelbulle (cinnamon roll/bun) is a Swedish sweet bun very popular here in Sweden. Yesterday, the 4th October, it was the the cinnamon bun-day and wherever in Stockholm I went I could feel the aroma of newly baked cinnamon buns. Very nice scent. And everyone were eating one everywhere...

I didn´t eat any during the day. Didn't really have time. Had lecture at university, studied at the library, went for a body balance class at SATS, had a quick lunch, went to Jysk for some shopping for the flat and then I had to start preparing the dinner.

Had Laura and Cicci over for a little girl dinner and instead of making a dessert I bought some amazingly good cinnamon buns. Yaaam. We had dinner, drank wine and had a good time.

Later on we went to Ljunggren - a, for me, new place at Slussen in Stockholm. It is like a small shopping center that during the evenings gets transformed into a club with 3-4 bars inside. It was a good mix of people and a quite nice place actually.

A day with Amanda and little Billy

It has been a long, busy but great funny day today.

This morning I went to the gym. I thought I was going to a dance class but I ended up at the wrong sats location so instead they booked me into a body pump class. Another one. I did one on Monday as well and I feel pain in my muscles from that one. Soon I am becoming a mini-body-builder-Maria ;-)

After the training I had a delicious asian lunch with my mum.

Then I met up with my friend from the lower schools, Amanda and her 1,5 year old son Billy. I normally don't get very attached to small kids but Billy is something special. So happy, funny and cute. I spend almost all the day kicking ball and playing with him. I just couldn't have enough of the little cutie. I stayed for dinner with Amanda and her boyfriend. I am so happy having them here in Stockholm for at least few months now.

I ended my busy day with a chai latte at Wayne's with Ioannis.

I just realized now when I got home that I haven't stopped a second for breathing today. But really fun day.

Urban Deli

Now I start like I have done in both London and Milan. I search online: on blogs and magazines, for the most popular bars and restaurants in town, I list them and then I visit them.

Stockholm might not me massively big but it offers a lot when it comes to eating and drinking out.

One of the most popular restaurants today in Stockholm is Urban Deli on Nytorget. I have never heard about it so obviously I had to check it out.

Urban deli as seen as a restaurant was nothing special. It was neither elegant or cosy and didn´t feel very trendy either even if it is. The food was expensive but actually really good.

What I most liked about Urban Deli is the little shop they got in one part of the restaurant. It felt like a much smaller version of the British fantastic Whole Foods. I found so many nice and different things. And I also found my favorite tea; Clipper! I got so happy.

Below is Nytorget daytime on Söder in Stockholm. Nice, heh?
