Reading online I just learned that the meaning of the name Alexandra is Defender Of The People, not bad... The above definition of my name seems to be fit very well as well :))

Today I will celebrate my name day with lots of work, a long meeting and tonight I am off for a dinner out.

Flowering class and San Remo festival

Yesterday I tried a new class at the gym, a class they call "flowering" which is a mix of Yoga and Pilates. I would say it was a Yoga class with extra stretching, in other words a class perfect for me. One of my biggest missions in the gym is to get more and more flexible so lots stretching is a must. Unfortunately Wednesday is not a good gym for me as I am normally going out on Wednesdays but in rare cases I will for sure go back to the flowering class.

Yesterday after the gym I was supposed to work from home, to prepare for a meeting today but in the end I did not lift a finger. Me and my flatmate sang down in the sofa and watched the San Remo festival until it was time to go to bed. It was ok but I must say I thought it would be much better....

Valentines night out

Valentines day and freezing cold outside so what else could we do than go out for another dinner. We went to Grani & Braci, a famous Italian steak house famous for both their meet, their pizzas and pasta dishes. Many of the things they offer on the are biological. We both had meat anyway which was very nice.

In the end Valentines day has been a very good day for me. At work I manage to get lots of things done today and I felt very satisfied when leaving the office. After work I manage to go to a 45 minutes Pilates class before I had to rush home to get changed for the night. It has been a very hectic but also a very good day.

Happy Valentines Day

Today, the 14th February most of the work celebrate Valentines day. Some people celebrate it like Christmas with presents and big plans while others just refuses to admit it is Valentines day.

I think Valentines day is a day that should be spent with anyone we love... Could be with your family, a good friend or just anyone special. It doesn't have to be with your partner and that's why I don't understand all these girls that goes in crises because they are singles on Valentines day.

I am in Italy alone without my family and best friends... My sweetest friends Stefania, Stephanie and Una have all moved away from Milan in the last months so I am more than happy to spend the evening with Torri. But it doesn't have to be that way. Last year I had the most amazing evening with Stephanie for example and the year before I passed the day with my loves ones, Erika and Anna, in Stockholm.

I think Valentines day is a special day where we should take the opportunity to send a thought to the ones we love. I am totally against all the commercial stuff around it but I push for spreading our love around us.

I wish you all a very good Valentines day! Now it's time to work!

Yesterday evening before going to bed Diana and I watched the movie The Bodyguard with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner. I haven't seen it in few years and got amazed how good I actually still think it is. After a movie a sadness came across me, why did she have to end in that terrible way? Whitney had a magnificent voice and was so beautiful. How sad hergifts could not bring her the same happiness they brought us.

This is absolutely one of the most romantic songs every made and I am pleased to share it today on the Valentine's day. Later on I will share a really romantic Italian one too...

Whitney Houston was one of the greatest singer I've ever heard andshe will be truly missed.

One year together

Today, the 13th February is exactly one year ago Torri and I started dating so today, instead of going to my lovely Jazz dance, we went for an anniversary dinner at restaurant Dixieland. We ate a big mix of mexican food and now I am off to bed with my stomach overly full :)

Back at La Rinascente for a lunch

Today I went back to my old work place Rinascente to visit my sweet ex colleagues. I so much remember all the Sundays I did in there, all the tired moments but also the joy and fun we had together.

Today when I got there they all were standing in their winter jackets and snow shoes inside trying to sell the cosmetics. I must say it is a big shame that a massive and so chick department store like Rinascente is not able to keep the place warm for its employees. I felt so sorry for them. Hopefully this will be the last cold week here in Milan...

However I went to La Rina and had lunch with Danii, Ilaria and Silvia in the employee restaurant just like the old times. So much fun to be there with them all again :)

Quick days...

Yesterday night at Noon Bar

This week has just rushed away... It has been mostly work but also some training and friends on the spare time. Monday I went for the Jazz with Diana (I wrote about it) and now I have also decided I will go on with the training for at least a month to see if I can manage to get any better... Tuesday I did not feel very well and I left work earlier and went home to sleep a bit. In the evening I went for one hour pilates and stayed in bed reading until it was time for sleeping. Wednesday I worked until late and then went home to watch a movie with Torri and Luisa. Thursday I went for my favourite Step tone class at the gym and afterwards I went straight out for sushi with Luisa and 5 other girls. Yesterday, Friday I went out for drinks with Veronica at Noon bar after work. I thought of going dancing afterwards but the freezing cold weather made me go home and get to bed early. Today, Saturday, after sleeping 11 hours I got up at 11 am and since I have been preparing work stuff for next week. Now I am off to the gym and then go to the supermarket as I have the fridge empty... Tonight I might go to the cinema but I am not sure yet...

Now at least I have updated the blog. I get stressed when I feel I have not done it in a while but now I can relax :)

Gamla Stans morden

"Gamla Stans morden" (The murders in the Old Town) is the fourth thriller in Lars Bill Lundholm series of murders in various inner-city neighborhoods in the Swedish capital. It started with Östermalm morden and then came Södermalm morden, Kungsholms morden and most recently, therefore the Gamla Stans morden. I just loved the first three books, they have all been thrilling and I also love the way the author depicts my home town Stockholm.

"Gamla Stans morden" was good too and I read it with joy but I don't think it was as good as the other ones. However absolutely worth reading.

Jazz dance course

Yesterday evening I joined my flatmate Diana to a Jazz dance course. It is a advanced contemporary jazz drop in course which means you pay when you go but don't need to sign up for a full course (a great deal). I was very much looking forward to go but got a little bit frightened when I realised the group consisted of very fit and experienced ballet dancers that picked up the teachers choreography in a second. I was by far the crappiest in the group but in some kind of way I enjoyed it anyway and I hope I gonna have the courage to go back.

The idea of mixing ballet with hiphop or other modern dances gives me a kick and now I gonna push Diana to teach me to do pirouettes at home before going back to the course with her...

A good Sunday for me has to contain my favorite pilates class and then afterwards sushi for dinner.

Today I more and less dragged myself out in the freezing cold Sunday weather to go the pilates but as always I was very happy when I was there.

Tonight I went to Arigato for a all you can eat sushi dinner with Matteo and now I am off to bed with my stomach overly full of raw fish...

Hey friends, I would like to introduce you to my new big love, my Mac book Pro.

I have never had a Mac in my life and not a I phone either. I used to play with my ex boyfriend's one a couple of years ago but more in frustration than in joy but as everyone kept saying they are so good I slowly got interested and now I finally got one myself. So far I love it! It is great in all kind of way. Right now I am on Skype with my best friend in Stockholm, Erika, and it works perfectly. I am so happy!

Good morning. Just got out going to work and it still snowing. Now Italy can start saying we actually got snow. We got -3 degrees with nice fresh but quite dry air. Finally we got rid of the terrible humid air that makes 2 degrees feels like -20. Now we're talking... and now I like it!

Days like this I wish I would wake up on the country side and not in the centre of a big city. The snow is really fascinating and very very beautiful but the cars destroys the magic in a second as it makes the snow becomes black mud ish.

Sushi and snow

Just got out from Tamara's place and I am waiting for the tram to take me home. It is still snowing, the streets are empty and it is actually very beautiful :) Tonight we ordered sushi delivery with warm misu soup and we just stayed in talking. If it is supposed to be winter this is the real winter I want!

Snowing in Milan

Alerts! Alerts! It is snowing... Panic! Delays in all public transport, some schools are closed and most people will (on purpose) arrive late to work. Exactly like in London. But in some kind of way I could accept it a little bit more in the UK... it is not a place where it snows and if it does once a year or so it is cheaper for them to just shut everything for that day instead of wasting money on dealing with the snow.

In Italy, and especially in north Italy where we have some of the world's greatest Alps they just can't justify that the city doesn't go on as normal for just few snow flakes. People go to the mountains almost every weekend without problems but when the snows arrives outside their city homes they can't get out of bed? The trains that passes snowy areas on a daily bases has to stop when the snow comes to the centre?

Italians loves blame the weather for staying home. It can be too warm, too cold, too foggy, too rainy and too snowy and they happily don't go out.

I had to change the train 3 times to get into work this morning and I arrived 40 minutes late. Not happy.

The other day my flatmate and I watched the final of Live to Dance. an American TV show I just love. The couple that won were absolutely amazing. They are only 10 and 11 years old and are among the best dancers I have ever seen. I am so impressed!

A step closer to become a body builder....

Not happy! On Sundays, when I have time, I love to go to the Pilates class and today I was planning to but when I arrived the class was cancelled. Such disappointment! In all anger and desperation I booked an hour with a personal trainer instead that for two(!) hours tortured me with heavy weights and weird stretching exercises. I got back home, had a long bath and then placed myself in front of final of "Live to Dance".

A Sunday when I more and less did nothing but anyway went to bed dead already at 22.30....

Saturday with Ada

What can you do a day when they warned for snow fall but it just kept raining even it was freezing cold outside? The answer from a little freezing girl like me would be nothing and I was close not getting up of bed but in the end I did....

I dressed up heavily and went out to meet my sweet ex colleague and friend Ada. We went to eat at her boyfriend's restaurant in Brera and then to a coffee place just to talk, eat and keep warm. It was such a ugly day but we had a good time anyway.

Tennis freaks Friday night

Yesterday I worked until 8pm when my boyfriend came and picked me up outside my office and took me to a birthday dinner with some of his friends. Arriving at the dinner I realised that everyone there had one thing in common, a genuine interest in tennis. They were all either tennis instructors, people taking tennis courses or parents to kids taking tennis lessons. Me, not even knowing how to hit the ball with a tennis racquet felt like a real outsider but I had a good time any way enjoying a buffet dinner, champagne and good live music.

Now I am watching a man from fastweb working hard to get fastweb broadbad and the land line telephone working in our house. Lets hope he will make it!

Another earthquake in Milan

And once again, sitting at work, we had to experience an earthquake. It lasted longer than the one two days ago and the news are saying it was also stronger. I might have got less scared this time but it is such a terrifying experience to feel the ground below your feet shaking and you got absolutely no control and can not do anything.

Two earthquakes in two days is more than enough.... I pray and hope this was the last earthquake we have to experience here in Milan!

Aperitif at Ciu's

I get so lazy during the cold and dark winter month. I have good intentions to go out, meet friends and have fun but then in the end I sit down in the sofa and I decide to stay in. It is easier and warmer.

Yesterday after work I went to the gym and afterwards I was so tired and I just felt like going home to eat and sleep but I didn't. Instead I went to Ciu's to have a nice aperitif with Danii and Marco and in the end I am glad I did. Good food and good company and my evening was fulfilled.

Antonello Venditti live in Rome!

The 8th and 9th of March my big idol Antonello Venditti will start his 2012 tour with two concerts in his home town Rome. He will also come up to Milan in the end of March but I didn't doubt a second, I just had to go down to Rome to see him there.

So now I have booked the tickets, I will spend the weekend in Rome with family and friends and the 9th I am off to the 'Palasport' with Stefania to see the big man. I just can't wait! :)

Earthquake in Milan

Just 10 minutes after I got into the office this morning the whole building suddenly starting shaking. I was talking to my colleagues about the great night at Cost yesterday when it started and I just frooze, got chocked. Everyone rushed to the window but me and my Swedish colleague took our jackets and run out on the street.

It was over in just few seconds but it was a really terrible experience. I have never felt an earthquake before and couldn't really understand what was going on....

Reading the Italian news (click here) I discover that the real earthquake was in the Emiglia Romagna area and spread all around north Italy. It mostly spread fear around the cities as no one is hurt and nothing has got destroyed but for sure it was a scary start of the day!

InterNations Milano Aperitivo at Cost

Internations is a online social network that I would describe like a mix of facebook and linked in. It's idea is be a meeting point for international professional people all over the world who wants to get to know other international people. The website communicates job offers, apartments, city guides and other topics that people can create in their forums. They also once a while organize social events like the one I went to yesterday.

An aperitif at the lovely bar Cost with free drinks and food and a great opportunity to meet new people. I love the idea! I went there with Merve and after a while also Matteo, Fabrii and four of my colleagues joined us. We talked with people from all the world and time just rushed away. I had lots of fun but unfortunately I had to get home in time to be able to get up early this morning.

La Spezia September 2011

January is slowly moving towards it's end... too slow though. January together with November are the two months I hate most, they are both long, dark, cold and often full of bad news and that is exactly what both November and this January are bringing me.... The list of bad news don't seems to have an end...

Today my colleague and I looked back at some summer pics to keep the mood up. Lovely photos from the sea side with clear blue water and a hot sun. Here in Italy the spring should only be just little bit more than one month away so I am doing what I can to keep the mood up even if some days feels harder than others...

Sette Sensi Spa

A day at the SPA, Yabba Dabba Duh! :)

Last year for my birthday I got a smart box for two and yesterday I finally used it. I choose Sette Sensi Spa in Melegnano. It was quite small but very sweet, nice and relaxing. We passed lovely hours inside but strange enough we got home totally destroyed.

I fell asleep at 22.30 more tired than ever but this morning I woke up nice and fresh to start of the new week.

Arabic night

Saturday night and we wanted to do something different so my boyfriend and I booked a table at a popular Arabic restaurant where they have a "dinner and show" offer in these days.

We went, ate the food, it was ok but nothing special and not enough for hungry wolves like me. After the dinner a little balerina came and did a good belly dance show which was quite nice as well. BUT, I didn't enjoy the evening at all and the reason was some of the men in the place, not the dinner guests as they were all normal couples like me and my boyfriend. I mean men that was sitting in the place drinking, smoking water pipes and staring at all women like we were some kind of objects and later on also touching the poor belly dancer. I really would like to be open to all different kind of cultures and religions but their way there men are looking and treating women is something I absolutely can't accept and it kind of destroyed the whole sense of the evening.

The dinner was interesting and the dance show was very beautiful so the whole experience was ok but I won't do it again.

Kenzo Ki Sensual

It is not the first time I share my great experiences with Kenzo Ki creams. Last time I told you about the fresh Bamboo cream which was amazing during the hot summer days. This time I would like to recommend an even better line of Kenzo Ki, the one called Sensual on the international market and "rice steam" here in Italy. Kenzo Ki are natural products that might be a bit hard to find and not very cheap but they are worth every effort to get them.

I have been using the day, night and body creams of the Sensual line and they have all been fantastic for my quite dry skin. I can really feel how it hydrates the skin, gives it energy and softness. I just love it and I am so sad that they are now finishing....

Movie premiere of 'Benvenuti Al Nord'

Few weeks ago I saw the movie "Benvenuti al Sud", an Italian comedy movie talking about a man from Milan that has to move down to south Italy for work. It is funny as the differences of life between north and south of Italy are extremely big. I liked the movie, it felt genuine in some kind of way.

Also, for me moving from Stockholm to Milan felt more and less the same differences of life changes as the man in the film.

Yesterday I dragged my boyfriend to the film premiere of the second movie, Benvenuti al Nord. In this movie a man from the south is moving up to Milan. In this movie they want us to laugh at the Milaneese people's way of planning weeks ahead, that they arrive at exact time and that they eat strange things as sushi.... I laughed but I am not sure about what as for me it is normal to plan, to arrive on time and that sushi is a normal part of my weekly life. But the film was sweet anyway and I would highly recommened both Benvenuti al Sud and Benvenuti al Nord for all Italians and Italian lovers!

Burlesque dance

Yesterday evening me, my flatmate Diana and 3 of her friends went for a free course of Burlesque dance. It was fun and interesting and the teacher was very good. She explained that many people believes that Burlesque is a simple striptease but it is absolutely not. It is much more elegant, teasing and artful and that is why it is so hard to learn.

In one hour we more and less tried to learn how to walk in a very elegant way and ow to move our arms, shoulders and hips in a elegant but sensual way. Believe it or not, it was so hard. Tiny little me felt like a heavy elephant in there. My friends are interested to sign up for the whole course but I am not. If I gonna pay for a dance course I wanna move more and I wanna dance to music I like. It was great fun to try but nothing for me!

Monday - Yabba Dabba Duh

I am a girl that normally don't like routines. I am not sure why but I guess it bores me out. But now I found a good way to start of my weeks, a routine of my Mondays...

I work. I go to the gym - I normally do two hours, one hour of body pumping and one hour of dancing. I get home. I eat a dinner that almost always contains of tuna mixed of other things. I always wash my hair on Mondays and every second week I make a hair pack. Afterwards I relax in front of a movie, or an episode of Gossip girl or I go straight to bed to read a good book. I feel this is a good start of my week and with a good start I hope to go on with a even better week :)

Yesterday I saw the movie "Ti presento un amico" with one of my favourite actors Raoul Bova. Just another Italian movie talking about infidelity... But it was entertaining and relaxing. And Mr Bova was great as always.

Carosello shopping centre

In winter time I love shopping centers, in the summer I hate them. I find them a bit sad, a place for families to go if they don't have anything better to do.... However, in the the winter it is great. You tale the car there and can walk around only inside to get everything you need (if it is a good shopping centre).

Today we've been to Carosello in norh Milan. It was the first time I went there but now it is my favourite one as it god everything I needed. Apple store, H&M, Zara, Holister, Intimissimi and a very big carrefour super market with great prices.

I bough myself a sweather from Holister, some basics from H&M, training clothes from Adidas and did my weekly food shopping from carrefour that Torri delivered home to my door :) I also choose the MAC I wanna buy...!

Now I wait for my sweet Danii to arrive for a cosy girl night.

Dimensione Danza

Today ended up being everything but lazy. I've walking around everywhere.

Most important is that I manage to go to the big Dimensione Danza store in central Milan where they sell out their fantastic gym/ dancing clothes for 35-50% off. I bough myself two new pairs of trainings pants and obviously I had to introduce one of the immediately so I went to the gym for one hour pumping :)

Now I am at home waiting for my boyfriend to arrive to spend a relaxing evening at home. Outside it is far too cold so I have no intentions to leave the house any more today.

Cocktail night at Deseo

Unexpected evening. I was supposed to go just for an ape with Matteo at Deseo after work but we ended up staying out late talking, drinking cocktails and having fun. Even Albii came by that I haven't seen in months so it was a very nice evening.

Today it's Saturday and I am not really sure what to do. I feel tired and could easily stay in bed all day but gonna try not to...

The winner stands alone

The Winner Stands Alone is a very interesting book that shows the inteligent and educated sides of the great author Paolo Coelho.

The story takes place at the Cannes Film Festival looking deep into the world of film and fashion. Igor, a confused. sad but intelligent and very successful businessman pursues his ex-wife Ewa in the hope of getting her back. Igor believes that he must "destroy other people's worlds" (taking their lives) to win back her affection. At the same time the book features different characters weaved in together in the story, who all serve a function amidst the film festival: producers, actors, designers and supermodels.

I am not sure I liked the actual story itself but it was written in such smart and interesting way that it kept my interest until the last page.

Tonight I have been to the gym, I ate a healthy dinner, had a long bath and finished this book and now I am off to bed early. Me like.

More dogs than kids

Today I was told that there are more dogs in Milan than there are kids.... And that is the reason why the dogs are welcome absolutely everywhere in this town; in all shops, bars, restaurants... I never thought about it but it is actually true that I see much more dogs inside Rinascente than kids. I love dogs but I must say I think this statistic is a bit sad...

Why Italians don't fancy having kids/families is another long story, and I'll write about that another time.

Piccola Ischia and a bad movie

A good evening with bad ingredients.

For tonight I was the one to decide to try out a pizzeria most Milanese people just loves. It is a chain called Piccola Ischia making traditional Napolitan pizzas. I dragged my boyfriend with me to the one closest to where I live (the one in Viale Abruzzi) and we ordered two pizzas. I don't want to say they didn't taste good, they were actually quite tasty but absolutely nothing special and they doesn't come close to be as good as the pizzas at for example Brickoven.
When walking out of the pizzeria I felt almost sick even if I finished just half of my pizza so I say no I won't go back, sorry.

To digest the pizza we went home to watch a movie, All about Steve with Bradley Cooper and Sandra Bullock. Two great actors in a crap, ridiculous but at least a bit entertaining movie.

However, even if both the pizza and the movie was crap my evening was great! :)

Around the Globe

Yesterday night Silvia, Ilaria and I booked a table at the busy bar Globe Lounge at the top floor of Coin. We met up for a some food, drinks and good talk. The Globe is a lovely place with a breautiful view and nice people but I must say that the food was nothing special at all - at least not for being at a place where you absolutely have to book to be able to get in.

However, I had a good evening with the girls!

Sunday Pilates and Sushi

I love lazy days and nowadays with my new job that allows me having all weekends off I got lots of lazy days. I stay in bed until lunch time just reading or sleeping. I have brunch. I might go to the gym or out for a walk and then normally I plan something for the evening.

Today I stayed home doing home duties until after my lunch and then I went out in the lovely spring liked weather for a walk and then continued to the gym for one hour pilates. It was my first day at the gym after my three weeks of gym holiday (Sweden trip, a cold and hard work) so I thought a lazy pilates class would be perfect. Unfortunately it was harder than a normal aerobics class and I left feeling like a snake without bones or muscles.

After a little rest at home I got out again for a big sushi dinner with Fabrii.

L'idroscalo di Milano

L'idroscalo is an artificial lake in Milan. I have never been there as I didn't have any big expectations about it but yesterday Torri took me there and I realised I was wrong. It s a very nice, clean and well orginized area around this lake. It is perfect for walking, running, pick-nick, sun bathing and whatever. Next time we gonna walk all around it :)

Today I have been off work. It was close that I had to work today as well but I manage to finish almost everything yesterday so today I took the day off just to relax and I really needed it. I forgot to put the alarm and I slept until 13.30 (11 hours), something I don't remember myself doing since many years and I guess it shows how tired I was after all the hard work these last two weeks.

In the afternoon I went out for a quick trip into the centre to see the sales and to buy one pair of winter boots and one pair of high heels, both in great leather and in my size (super tiny and hard to find) for half price so I was happy.

Tonight I cooked dinner at home for my sweet friend Daniela and instead of going out after dinner like planned we stayed at home, drinking wine and just talking. Very nice evening!

China town in Milan

For those who didn't know it, it is not only London and NY that got a China town. We got one here in Milan as well and I even if I almost never pass it I like it a lot.

It is a little area in cental Milan with 4-5 streets full of chineese shops, supermarkets and restaurants. And everything is very cheap.

Yesterday Merve and I went to one of the most popular restaurants in the area, Jubin. We shared one starter, one nudle dish, two mains of meat and prawns and finally fried bananas for dessert and we payed 11euro a head :) I hope to go back soon to little china town!

Miami cafè and the tourist

Yesterday I only stayed over one hour at work and then I rushed to town to meet up with my boyfriend for a lovely sushi dinner at a pretty sushi restaurant in my area, Miami cafè. They offer you a plate of sushi as a happy hour (aperitivo) plus that they have a buffet with a nice japaneese rice dish. The rest you wanna eat you have to order and pay. I liked the place and the staff was very sympatic.

After the dinner we went home to see the movie "The tourist". A strange but very intelligent movie...

Now I am off to work for another long and busy day....

Lazy 1st day of the year

We stayed in bed until 1pm and then we had brunch at home before going out for a park walk in the 7 degrees freezing cold sunny weather. Tonight it is all about the sofa, movies and hot teas.

New Year's Eve - the right movie at the right night

For those who wonder where I have hided the last few days the answer is in the office. I got from my Christmas holidays with loads of working waiting for me so I have been staying late and after work I have just been relaxing at home with my boyfriend or my flatmate Diana.

Yesterday, the night before the big new years eve, I got out of the office just before 8pm and went directly to the cinema to meet my boyfriend, Stefano and Elisa. I wanted to see Geaorge Clooney's new movie but in some kind of way we decided to see "New Year's Eve", a movie with lots of great actors like Robert De Niro, Hally Berry, Zac Efron, Michelle Pfeiffer and my star Sarah Jessica Parker. I thoght it would be a crappy american comedy but instead it turned out to be a very good romantic comedy in style with some of my favourite movies 'Love actually', 'The holiday' etc. New Year's Eve shows love, hope, forgiveness, second chances and fresh starts, where you follow different people's stories though pulse and promise in New York City on the most dazzling night of the year.

Here are some quotes that reminded in my head after the movie and that I therefore would like to share with you today, on New year's eve:

Bye bye 12 degrees winter (?) Stockholm

I am at arlanda on my way back to Milan. Outside the sun is raising, its heavy winds and 12 degrees. Dreaming about a white Christmas was for nothing this year and it little destroyed the real Christmas feeling...

However, I've had an amazing time as always these days and like all other times I feel sad leaving my family and friends.

Time really flies when you have fun. My 6 days in Stockholm are almost over as I tomorrow fly back to Milan. As always I have been having an amazing time but I haven't been able to rest and relax as much as I was hoping to do.

This morning the sales started and my mum and I was in town already at 10am to look around without too much people around. I bought a pyjamas but nothing else, sigh. After three heavy hours walking around in the stores I went for lunch with my girl friends at Wayne's. Afterwards it was time for a little family catch up on my dad's side which gave me another kick of how much time flies... Kids that I met some time ago has grown up to big kids from just being tiny sleeping babies in what I felt being just some months but it had actually passed over a year :)

Tonight I have been for dinner at the famous "Birkastans pizzeria" with mum and Bosse to eat what they say it's Sweden's biggest pizzas. I realize how different they actually are from the real Italian pizzas but so nice anyway!

I fly back to Milan tomorrow morning and will try to rest my last day before going back to work on Wednesday as I know it will be an inferno of work until the 10th of January...

Christmas day film premier

Like many other years today my mum and I went to the cinema to see a film premier. This time it was time for the last (I guess) Stig Helmer (sällskapsresan) movie: "Stig Helmers Story". I liked it but not as much as my mum that really loved it. For her it was a real nostalgic trip watching it as it remembered her about when she was young so I guess I would recommend it for for the generation above me but for everyone in my age I would tell to wait until it comes out on DVD before seeing it....

I found some new friends at the cinema.... ;)

Stockholm brings stress and happiness

I always have so much things and so many friends to do when I get back home. It is most things that I love to do but to be able to do it all I have to stress around like a robot in town and I never feel I have enough time for anything or anyone.

Yesterday I started off the day at my favourite sun bed here at S:t Eriksplan. After a quick fresh up at home I went for Chinese lunch with mum and dad. Afterwards we all went to my flat to search for my old economics university books that I now will need to re-read for my new job. Then I went to Erika's job to exchange the Christmas presents in a rush before I had to run to 'Aktiv hudvård' for a lovely face treatment where I at least for an hour really relaxed. I did the "Primaluce Pha-aha" which re-awaken your skin, something I really needed. I loved it and would really recommend it!

After the relaxing hour I went to 'Vetekatten' for a couple of hours 'fika' with Anna and Johanna. I spent the evening at home with mum eating dinner and watching some tv.

Typical house in Stockholm in Christmas time - lights in almost all windows. Love it!

Arrived in Stockholm at 4pm, thanks of the traffic it took me over an hour to get home and then I just had 30 min to get prepared for the Christmas dinner with the girls. As always I decided to go to another Thai place this time to restaurant Phi Phi Island.

I am so happy to back in Stockholm for almost 6 days and even if I have lots of things I have to do I will try to rest and relax as much as possible.

Our own little Christmas dinner

Christmas is soon arriving and like all other years I will be celebrating with my family in Stockholm, I am leaving already tomorrow Wednesday...
Yesterday it was time to say goodbye to my boyfriend so we had a little dinner together and exchanged some presents. I was supposed to choose the restaurant and I decided to go to Pomodorino, a pizzeria that won the best pizzas in Milan 2010. The pizzas was good but for me the best pizza in Milan is still at Brickoven!

Cosy moment at Bianco Latte

I finally tried it, the famous bakery Bianco Latte, the place which my flatmates are addicted to. I have tried to go before but the queue has always been far to long to resist so I never entered. But this time we came in the afternoon and they got us a place quite quickly. But now I know the place is worth waiting for... it is the cosiest place I have tried here in Milan. A tipical place that Swedes loves for their famous "fika moments".

I had a pot of hot milk with caramello and shared a crep with fresh fruit with Torri. The prices are a little bit high but I just loved the place anyway. Hope to go back very soon!

Christmas market in the park

I am doing what I can to get some Christmas feeling these last days before Christmas. This morning I turned on Christmas carrols at home, had candles all over and fixed some Christmas presents. In the afternoon I dragged my boyfriend to the park in Porta Venezia to see the little Christmas market they have but after walking around in the park seeing the autumn nature the Christmas feeling wasn't greater than before...

I keep my fingers crossed for a white Christmas in Stockholm, but also that seems to be hard this year.

Saturday with Merve

The last thing I wanted today was to get into the centre and walk around with all the millions of other people out Christmas shopping. I went to the gym in the morning and though of having nice and relaxing afternoon at home, but no... Merve called and asked me to join for a afternoon tea in town and afterwards we ended up walking down Via Turino, one of the biggest shopping streets in Milan, towards Navigli, so we got out dose of the hysteric shopping day anyway.

The pictures are talking down the Navigli on our way to Merves place in that area. So nice and cosy now during the Christmas period.

Now I am at home and will get to bed and watch one of my favourite movies of all time, "The Holiday" :)

Company Christmas dinner

I just started my new job less than a month ago but I already have experienced a big company Christmas dinner. They held it at "Restaurant La Guardia" just outside Milan. We enjoyed a mingle champagne and finger food starter and then a 6 course dinner at the table. The food was nice even if it was a little bit too much. I have a good time as I got to know colleagues from UK, Georgia, Sweden and obviously also from the Italian office. I loved the International mix of people :)

I am so so sooo glad I have found a job at an International, well going and professional company!

Anniversary dinner at Mongolian barbecue

Time flies. Yesterday me and by boyfriend celebrated 10 months together :) And today we went for dinner at Mongolian restaurant our friends had highly recommeneded, Mongolidan barbecue. The place itself wasn't very nice but the food was very good and once again I ate too much.

After the dinner we went home to watch one of my favourite Italian comedies. It is as stupied as many other Italian movies that I normally hate but this one is special, sweet and so much fun.

Back for a dinner at my favourite mexican restaurant, Papar and Beer, and as always I walked out of there overly full that I almost felt sick. But it was good, very very good. Matteo and I had a chili nachos as a starter and the usual chicken fajitas as a shared main, talked about old common memories and why girls are so strange.... :)

African Dance

Monday is my big training/dance evening. I start off with a 45 minutes class of total body workout which consists of step warm up, leg & bum training, arm exercises and addominals. After this my dance lession starts. Most of the time is "mordern dance" but from time to time the ballerina teacher changes and we get to try something else.

Today it was time for african dance, something I did try few time in London as my friend Ann-Sofie went on to the african dance lessions every week. It is a dance very different from the others as it is everything but malleable. You have to put all the foot down very hard and most of the time you stand with your back curved, plus it is a very quick dance so you sweat a lot. It is very hard but very funny. It is a good exercise for the back and the addominals and I know that tomorrow I will have pains a little bit all over...

Now I just had a Swedish meatball dinner and will have a shower before heading to bed. I am so tired.

Big handcraft fair in Rho

Such a nice fair! Rho fair is one of the largest fairs I have ever seen and since a week it has been filled up with hand crafts from the whole world. I didn't have big expectations and maybe that's why I just loved it. Francii and I walked around for almost 6 hours seeing hand made things and delicatessens first from different regents in Itlay and then from the different part of the world. It was just amazing to see everything and try all nice things.

Dinner in Bergamo

After a busy Saturday with lots of must do's I met up with Fracii that came up from Genova for a weekend in Milan. In the evening we took the car to Bergamo to go for dinner with Karol, Jaione and Ricky. We went to a very nice restaurant called "Voci di Mare". Afterwards we went for drinks outside the centre somewhere. Different and nice evening!

Tonight Francii stayed here in her old house and today we're off to a big fair in Rho.

Antonello Venditti is and have always been one of my favourite artists. Everyone that has been living with me in Sweden, Ireland, London or here in Italy has been forced to hear some of his love songs as "Ogni volta", "Amici mai" or "grazie Roma". I would say that Antonello Venditti is one of the reasons I had big dreams to move to Italy as his songs and lyrics makes Italy a very special place...

It's been long since he came out with something new and as he's quite old I didn't even think he would make new songs so it was a big and great surprise for me when he few weeks ago announced his new song "Unica" and then his new album with the same name came out containing 9 new fantastic songs. This spring he's out for a tour that I absolutely can't miss!

Traffic block in Milan

I have been to the gym and now I am on my way to leave some shoes at the shoe repair and some sweaters at the dry cleaning and this is the streets I see. Big streets that normally are fully blocked of traffic any time of the year today are completely empty, only some taxis and buses are circulating. It is amazing, I love it! All this because to try to bring down the pollution in the air inside the city. I wish that Milan would be like that every weekend!

This weekend is a bit extra empty anyway. As we have two red days Wednesday and Thursday you could only ask for one day off from work and suddenly you had 5 days off to go away somewhere and many Milaneses have left for the Alps.

Later on I gonna go out to try to get together the last Christmas presents hoping that it wouldn't be too much people around....

Aperitivo at Tre Marie with Tamii

What a fantastic week! On Monday I was in Rome. On Tuesday I worked. On Wednesday and Thursday I was off. Today I worked. And tomorrow and Sunday I am off again.

Today at work I had to manage alone without my mentor. I was panicked in the beginning but after a while I realised I could actually handle most of the duties alone if I just used my head a little bit. I had a very busy day and even if I could leave earlier I had to stay over to finish off some things.

As a little well needed after work I catched up with Tamara at Tre Marie for a drink and some food and afterwards we went for a walk. However, now it's 22.30 and I'm already at home in front of a movie on SKY. Good Friday :)

Autumn walk in Milano 2

It feels a bit weird and wrong to say that we have been out for a autumn walk in the beginning of December. December is one of the three winter months and in two weeks it is Christmas but today has been a beautiful sunny day with 16 degrees and with all the beautiful read and yellow leaves around I can't call it anything else than autumn.

Today has been another bank holiday here in Milan, or actually today is a bank holiday in the whole Italy but to be honest I don't even know what we celebrate today...? But for sure it was a perfect day to be off as the temperatures raised and the sun shined like never before. Torri and I took the opportunity to go to Milano 2 for a long walk among all the birds and the colorfull leaves.

Tonight we have been for sushi and now we're watching the X Factor, the TV show I both love and hate but can't stay away from :)

Gym, spa and cinema day

Today is a bank holiday day here in Milan. We're celebrating Sant'Ambrogio (in English known as Saint Ambrose) which was a bishop of Milan who became one of the most influential ecclesiastical figures of the 4th century. He was one of the four original doctors of the Church.

I spent the morning at home and after lunch me and Luisa took off to GET FIT GYM AND SPA where we spent 1,5 hour in the gym training every part of the body and afterwards we relaxed in the fantastic spa they got. Very nice!

Tonight Torri first helped me food shopping at a mega big supermarket and then we went to the cinema to see Fabio Volo's new film "Il giorno in più". It is a romantic comedy movie made after the famous book with the same name. Ironically enough the movie talks about a couple where one partners is moving to New York for work and how they handle that situation........ It was a nice movie and now I would like to read the book too.

Double up at the gym

After three days in Rome without moving around too much I decided that it was time for a hard evening at the gym tonight. After 20 minutes on the cross trainer I went to the body building class followed by a very fun but hard step dancing class.

Now I'm at home eating and gossiping with Luisa.

...I am back in Milan.
Today has been one of the hardest days in my life but now I know I just need to keep strong and move on. That's life.
I love the quick train in between Rome and Milan. It is so easy, I get on, I watch a movie on the pc or whatever, and less than three hours later I step off in Milan. So comfortable.
Rome besides all the sadness was nice always. Its been a bit rainy but warm, 15-17 degrees in December is not bad.
Now I just gonna have a long shower and then go to bed. Tomorrow morning I"ll go back to work and even if I will be tired I do look forward to go working :)

I am in Rome

I have been going through though days. Thursday and even more Friday I hided in my boyfriends arms and Saturday morning I left from Rome.
It is hard to be down here. All memories that keeps running in my head and I have to force myself to keep strong.
This afternoon sweetest Stefii picked me up and took me out for a couple of hours trip in town. First we went to a shopping centre and later on to the trastevere area to check out the chocolate festival.
Now I am at a family and friends dinner but soon we have to ho home. Tomorrow's gonna be a hard day...

Time goes slowly...

Feels like walking around in a bad dream in these days. I fear the worst and I check my phone every minute for updates from Rome...

Yesterday was the last week of the month which in a finance departments always means stress. In my office people were running around like crazy and even I started to stress in the afternoon. But I kept myself busy and left some thoughts aside for a while.

After work I met up with Merve and she took me to a famous restaurant in central Milan; Original Pizza. They are famous for pizzas and burgers. We shared a pizza. No more pizza for me this week I think, hehe. After the dinner I went home watching a movie with Diana. I felt asleep on the sofa and rested well the whole night.

Now I'm off to work.

Pizza with a very good friend

Bad news got worse today. I feel empty and comfused. I can't understand what is happening. I just want to wake up of this bad dream and everything should get back to normal, like it was before, like it has been my whole life... But unfortunately that's not gonna happen and it all I can feel is pain.
Tonight I wanted to be alone, in bed, just to cry. But instead I met up with my very good friend that made me smile for a while. I ate a good pizza and felt slightly better when walking home from the pizzeria.

Perfect shape and brain training

On Mondays I always go to a specific dance aerobics class. The instructor is a very cool girl, a very good dancer. Today I came a bit earlier and I attended a theoretical lession in brain aerobics which was very interessting.

Dance aerobics. along with flexibility, shape and strength training exercise which is vital for health and fitness it is also a excelent brain training. Aerobic exercises strengthens the lungs and heart while improving circulation throughout the body, like most other excercings like running, cykling and body pumping. In addition to its physical benefits, aerobic activity also enhance brain function, resulting in improved cognition and emotional health.

The harder the dance combination movements are the more the brain is excercised and developed. It is the combination of fysical and mental training that makes dance aerobics such good excercise.

I have always loved dancing but my cordination sence is not the best. It is obviously something that needs to be trained but I get frustrated when I am not able to remember the combined movements. But now I know that I will always keep doing this kind of exercising as I know all the benefits of it.

Now I gonna eat some super yammi fajitas leftovers before heading to bed with the film Doubt that I have been told should be interesting and good.

What a day! Got some bad news after the gym this morning and the rest of the day didn't really turn out like I had it plan to do...

I did manage to do some of the things I had to do, like washing and cleaning. I went to church for the first time in months. And I also bought a new internet key from Internet so now I hope not to have that much problems like I had with Wind that only worked when it wanted to.

Last night was spent at home girlfriend and boyfriend eating the nice fajitas I made and watching Italian X factor.

Now we just had breakfast and we gonna go out in the nice sunny weather for a walk and a brunch.

Friday drinks at Pitbull

I left work as a walking zombie yesterday and all I could think of was sleeping but in the end I met up with Ilaria and we went for a nice aperitivo at Pitbull bar in Corso Como. I came home early and at 23.00 I was already in bed and I slept 11 hours...

Now I am off to the gym for a nice body pumping class. For the rest of the day I have million things to do - a long to do list where I need to tick off everything!

Finally weekend!

I.m exhausted! Not tired that I wanna sleep but so tired that I dont' understand anything any more...
I must say I had a very good first week at work! I like the office, I like my job, I like my colleague and I really like my mentor. I jave learned a lot and slowly I start understand what, how and why I do things. BUT the last hour at work today was a disaster, suddenly I wasn't able to do anything... Things I one hour earlier did perfectly by myself was suddenly impossible duties. I felt stupied and left the office feeling disappointed of myself... Hope things will go better on Monday!
Now I'm on the train on my way to Corso Como where I will meet up Ilaria for some food and drinks.

Weekend here I come!

Busy Thursday

Today was a busy day at my new job. We all had lots to do and everyone were running like mad ones :) I start feeling that I do slowly learn the things but I stress a little bit if I wouldn't be able to learn and understand everything quick enough. For now I just do my best, from next week I guess I can start seeing if I get what I'm doing...

After work today I went to the gym for a one hour total body class with my favourite personal trainer Mario. Is classes are the hardest but as I always had lots of fun in his classes I hardly realize how hard I work out.

After the gym I rushed to the supermarket, got a dessert that I brought to Giorgia's place where we had a nice dinner tonight. Francii is still in town and she cooked a very nice pumpkin & gorgozola risotto, yam tam.

As my going to bed limit, at midnight, now it's very close (2 minuyes left) will immediately close the pc and go to bed! Tomorrow Friday and then a well needed weekend...
